Ponies and Princes and Me With the Pony Prince

I am so excited to spend my Sunday on Governor’s Island watching my first Polo match.  Not only will I see my first Polo match ever, but I think it will also be my first time to Governor’s Island.  Hosted by Veuve Clicquot, the Polo Classic is a charity event that brings out New York’s and the world’s (Hello Harry) finest for the day.

The Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic will once again benefit the American Friends of Sentebale, a charitable organization founded by HRH Prince Henry of Wales and HRH Prince Seeiso of Lesotho, who are committed to transforming the lives of the orphans and at-risk children in Lesotho, Africa, many of whom are living with HIV/AIDS. Nearly one third of Lesotho’s population is infected with HIV/AIDS, and through Sentebale’s thoughtful and effective work, the organization is striving to affect positive change in the country.

A number of events have helped to pump me up for the event, including a haiku contest hosted by DailyCandy for a chance to win VIP tickets to the event.  I submitted an embarrassing amount of haikus, but here are my favorites:

Breeze by on horseback
Sip Clicquot and clap your hands
for Prince and ponies

Gay widow Cliqcuot
Bubbled and frothed with laughter
As her husband croaked

And now….on to the polo players.  A few months ago, Elle Decor featured Nacho Figueras’s beautiful Buenos Aires home.  His family is adorable and their home is breath-taking.

You can read more about the Polo event and see dreamy photos of Nacho at Habitually Chic.
