“Master Cleanse”

I’m half kidding when I write the title of this post is “Master Cleanse,” but also half serious when I say I probably should do the Master Cleanse for a few days. After a fun, food-filled week in New York City, I was extremely happy to come back to upstate New York and restart my routine of vegan soups and sandwiches, for both my waistline and my health.  Not that dining in NYC wasn’t the tastiest thing ever.  I stopped at Shake Shake for my favorite caramel shake and a shack burger; I had ramen, pork buns, and wings at Momofuku; I had afternoon oysters at Balthazar; I’m actually slightly embarrassed to type this, but I ate a second dinner after the oysters and dined on an incredible array of market vegetables from Westville; I ate pancakes or a panini every day for lunch at Minerva, a cafe in the West Village; I ate more wings at a wings joint in Cobble Hill; seriously, the list goes on and on.  But it was worth it!  Except, now I have to cut back on all the butter and carbs, and drink the baby-food pouches which are sold at Starbucks. Yes, I am that adult who buys Peter Rabbit Organics, and I’m not (too) ashamed to admit it.  The juices are a great 85-calorie, all natural, organic snack, that I buy when I’m craving an afternoon cookie, or oh, everything that I just mentioned above.  Try one!  They’re addicting (and so smooth, and puréed, and a little weird).
