Fall Inspiration

leave a comment »

I’m taking a quick trip to New York City this weekend and considering trips to Cambridge, Princeton, London, San Francisco, and Atlanta (will any of these happen?) in the next few weeks. In other words, city-wear is high on my mind right now. These outfits would take me seamlessly from running errands and sightseeing during the day to dinner and drinks at night.  I hate to say goodbye to summer (more than most), but I will welcome cold, sunny days and red wine season.

Elizabeth Olsen + Bon Appetit

leave a comment »

As it turns out, Elizabeth Olsen might be more of a foodie than I am. She travels with her own seasonings (sea salts to be specific), has attempted to butcher her own lamb, keeps a warm spot in her heart for bolognese at Bar Pitti, and has a similar affection for/fascination with Eric Ripert. Take me to Il Buco, Lizzie; I am great company.

A Rothko Experience

leave a comment »

Erica from small shop has a great post over at La Dolce Vita discussing Mark Rothko paintings.  I recommend you take a read.  Here’s a sample:

1) Rothko was deeply influenced by color theories first developed in the 17th & 18th centuries; 2) His paintings were quite large in size, and were meant to be viewed “up close and personal”; 3) It was Rothko’s intention that viewers have a sensory experience with his paintings.

White Center (Yellow Pink and Lavender on Rose), 1950 *Formerly owned by Rockefeller, this painting recently sold for $72.8 million!

Wit & Delight’s Rigatoni w/ Kale & Prosciutto

with one comment

How amazing and delicious does this recipe look?  I will be buying italian sausage and chopped pancetta from the grocery store this weekend to store in my freezer for hearty winter recipes.  Will have to whip this recipe up on a Friday night during finals to impress myself.

November Weekend
November Weekend.
So I’ve taken to Polyvore–an easy way to throw all of my expensive, over-the-top fashion desires into one design board.  Recently, I’ve been wearing gunmetal Chanel polish, hot pink MakeUp Forever lipstick, and searching for a chunky cableknit white sweater to wear with a fantastic green coat.  May the fashion police and lords of the bank have mercy on my wallet. Click below the jump for a link to every item in the board.  Happy November.

Matchbook hits the spot with this fall update for a living room.  I love a good plaid/cream/purple throw.
