A close girlfriend left for Paris on Wednesday, and I am off to St. Louis and then NYC early Friday. This means that I have been brainstorming our perfect weekend bag for our getaways. Net-a-Porter hits the nail on the head with their Embellished outfit on the left and their Long Weekend Wardrobe below. Coated black jeans, a chic day bag (I would take one in red or hunter green), and an embellished sweater would certainly take you from a lunch date at a sidewalk cafe, to sight-seeing, to dinner on the town. And that cool tweed dress, hat, and neutral flats? Can I have those?
I first stumbled upon Journelle’s smokey gray walls and sultry, Tocca-scented store in Union Square in 2008. This store is the perfect lingerie store for women in their mid-twenties who love the idea of La Perla but can’t quite bring themselves to pay hundreds of dollars for a bra and underwear set that only they might see. The selection is well-curated, the fitting rooms are luxurious, and the shop girls are always helpful. I love Victoria’s Secret as much as the next, but this brand screams special occasion and high fashion.
I’m taking a quick trip to New York City this weekend and considering trips to Cambridge, Princeton, London, San Francisco, and Atlanta (will any of these happen?) in the next few weeks. In other words, city-wear is high on my mind right now. These outfits would take me seamlessly from running errands and sightseeing during the day to dinner and drinks at night. I hate to say goodbye to summer (more than most), but I will welcome cold, sunny days and red wine season.
While I wish I could take credit for this fall outfit, a way cooler Italian blogger came up with it first. If I were to give it an American twist, I would change the black jeans to skinny black cords (maybe from Madewell) and add my friend Debbi’s beautiful Vince cableknit camel poncho instead of the Diesel one. Add a luxurious cashmere blend scarf and you have the perfect sight-seeing ‘fit.
